Group lot comprising three TLSs by Eleanor Roosevelt, dated from 1927-1952, and a TLS by her successor Bess W. Truman, dated 1951. In Roosevelt's letters, she notes, "I did not know you wanted me to try for Mrs. Whitehouse, I will try to make an appointment at once," recommends someone who "has been a very faithful and hard worker for a long time and was one of the women in 1928 who did real work in the south," and forwards a response from Washington about the "Selective Service System." Truman's letter responds to an invitation to a "benefit for the Scholarship Fund of the Bryn Mawr College Club." In very good to fine condition, with irregular toning to one of the Roosevelt letters. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope for the Truman letter.
