Nimitz," one page, 8 x 10.5, personal letterhead, November 21, 1959, about Cornelius Ryan's story of D-Day, in part: "I had just finished reading Time Magazine review of Cornelius Ryan's book 'The Longest Day'—when along came your package with the entire book. Thanks a million for your generous thought of us. What an expensive pair of gray suede shoes for Mrs. Rommell!!"; and a vintage matte-finish 4 x 5 portrait of Nimitz in uniform, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "July 2, '49, Dr. & Mrs. Darlington, Thank you both for a wonderful service, Admiral & Mrs. Nimitz." In fine condition.
