An original Washington City Canal Lottery ticket from 1955, 4 x 1.75, issued as No. 12, purchased to help build a bridge over the canal. The ticket reads: “This ticket will entitle the Possessor to such Prize as may be drawn to its Number, in Lottery No. 1, for cutting the Canal through the City of Washington, to the Eastern-Branch Harbour.” In very good condition, with a small tear to lower right corner.
