Description

Collection of six TLSs from Jeana Yeager, with one also signed by her Voyager co-pilot Dick Rutan, each one page, 8.5 x 11, various personal Voyager letterhead, dated between 1984 and 1989. Also included is a commemorative cover with a color cachet honoring the around-the-world flight of the Voyager, postmarked on the launch and landing dates, and signed by both Yeager and Rutan.

Each letter is addressed to famed British balloonist Julian Nott, with highlights as follows: June 7, 1984: “To date the Voyager has yet to fly, but very close. Until we can verify our design and performance data, we will be unable to confirm any financial or schedule commitment”; June 29, 1984: “We are progressing very nicely but not sure as to the Fall or the Spring just yet. Thing[s] do look good. Our real first flights went well. We are now planning for the public first flight for Tuesday the 3rd of July”; November 1, 1984: “I spent the week before last at Deep Water Survival School—what a really fun course! This week Dick and I spent a couple of days as guinea pigs. That wasn’t as much fun…”; June 17, 1987: “We were honored to be presented the Royal Aero Club’s Gold Medal by Prince Andrew and to meet Prince Philip also”; and November 2, 1989: “Progress always seems slow and money forever elusive, but keep your sights. It’s well worth reaching those dreams! Meanwhile I’ll have to dream of balloons, maybe I should have you teach me how to fly them.” In overall fine condition.
