Entering his third season on a big league roster, Killebrew had yet to make a name for himself as the ‘Killer.’ The 20-year-old struggled with strikeouts, and had defensive difficulties at third base. Given his limited playing time, Topps had to use a rather uninspiring action shot of him picking up a foul ball as the background to his second card. Killebrew would finally put it together in 1959, smacking a league-leading 42 homers en route to a Hall of Fame career. A nice card with sharp corners and vivid colors, this is a great MINT 9 exemplar. Just one has been graded higher by PSA.
Buyer's Premium is 20% on all 1956 Topps Cards.
