American psychologist and social philosopher (1904-1990) who was the Edgar Pierce Professor of Psychology at Harvard University from 1958 until his retirement in 1974; contemporary academia considers Skinner a pioneer of modern behaviorism, along with John B. Watson and Ivan Pavlov. Two items: a TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Harvard University letterhead, February 9, 1977, in full: "The article misrepresented behavior modification and seemed to have no merit whatsoever. Thank you for sending it to me"; and an offprint booklet of his article "Teaching Machines," 13 pages, 8.25 x 11, signed on the front cover in black felt tip. In fine condition, with some light edge creasing.
