Attractive leather-bound pocket calendar given as a Christmas gift to White House staff by President Truman in 1947, 4.25″ x 2.75″, gilt-stamped on the front with the presidential seal and text, "Merry Christmas from the President and Mrs. Truman, 1947." Inside are three plastic sleeves, one containing a tiny year-long calendar for 1948; the other two were intended to hold identification cards. President Truman commissioned Brown and Bigelow of St. Paul to produce 760 of these pocket gifts, at a cost of eight cents each. In fine condition.
