Beautifully unusual original color painting by acclaimed fantasy artist Omar Rayyan, accomplished in graphite and watercolor on an 11 x 14 sheet of artist paper, signed in the lower right by Rayyan, who dates the artwork to 1989. The painting depicts a bespectacled hound-like creature with antlers, six legs, tiger-like stripes, and a spike-tipped tail. The sheet is affixed to a same-size cardstock mount. In fine condition, with light dampstaining to the bottom. A magnificent beast from the talented Rayyan, whose 'old world' style artwork has been published in a wide array of children's books, in addition to the immensely popular Magic: The Gathering card game.
