Grant, affixed to the front and reverse of an off-white 17 x 14.25 photographic album page bearing informational captions below the respective photos. The front image, 11.5 x 9.25, depicts Grant's tomb the day after his interment, with a soldier guarding the front gate, and another to the rear. The photo on the reverse measures 10 x 11.75 and portrays Captain J. A. Fessenden and First Lieutenant J. Escourt Sawyer sitting with crossed legs near the tomb of General Grant in New York’s Riverside Park. Inherent to both photographs is a copyright in the lower right corner, "Copyright 1886 by the U.S. Inst. Photo. Co." In fine condition, with rippling and soiling to the borders.
