Two items: an ALS signed "Henry W. Longfellow," three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.25 x 7, August 16, 1860, to James Topham Brady, in part: "I have had the pleasure of receiving your 'Christmas Dream' which has been forwarded to me at this place and for which I should have thanked you sooner, but for the heat, and the summer flittings to and fro. I have read your little volume with pleasure and interest; and like particularly its tender and humane spirit. You have my best wishes for its success, and my best thanks for your kindness in sending me a copy"; and an ink signature, "Henry W. Longfellow," on a light gray 4.25 x 1 slip. In overall very good to fine condition, with the writing a bit light in places, and writing showing through from opposing sides.
