Description

Uncommon 9.75 x 11.5 NASA binder presented to longtime employee Fern Lee Pickens, a secretary in NASA’s public affairs office, consisting of a variety of mementos presented to Pickens upon her retirement in 1975. The highlights of the binder include: an official color 8 x 10 NASA lithograph of Michael Collins posing in his white space suit against a lunar backdrop, signed and inscribed in black felt tip, "Best wishes to Fern Pickens—M. Collins"; and a NASA booklet entitled "Medical and Technical Results of the First U.S. Manned Suborbital Space Flight," 8 x 5.5, signed on the front in black ballpoint, "Alan B. Shepard, Jr." The balance of the binder is comprised of letters from fellow NASA employees and administrators, emblem stickers and official NASA lithographs, and a group of five sheets copiously signed by friends and well-wishers. In overall fine condition.
