Desirable group lot of the first four issues of Sports Illustrated magazine, with issues as follows: “First Issue, Sports Illustrated,” 144 pages, 8.25 x 11.5, dated August 16, 1954, with cover photo by Mark Kauffman featuring Hall of Fame third baseman Eddie Mathews at the plate for the Braves at Milwaukee's County Stadium; the “Second Weekly Issue of Sports Illustrated,” 88 pages, 8.25 x 11.5, dated August 23, 1954, with Kauffman cover photo showing several golf bags at the Masters Tournament; the “Third Weekly Issue of Sports Illustrated,” 80 pages, 8.25 x 11.5, dated August 30, 1954, with Richard Meek cover photo of Pamela Nelson swimming at Jones Beach, Long Island; and the “Fourth Weekly Issue of Sports Illustrated,” 68 pages, 8.25 x 11.5, with Meek cover photo of Skipper Gib Wolfe sailing on the 45-foot sloop White Lie. In overall fine condition. The first issue is housed in a Sports Illustrated folder with accompanying certificate of authenticity.
