Description

The Esterbrook 'bill signer' of President Kennedy

Rare dipping pen personally owned by President John F. Kennedy. The official 'bill signer' Esterbrook pen measures 6.25″ long and features a black plastic grip with a Lucite handle imprinted with "The President—The White House." In fine condition.

Accompanied by two letters of provenance from former White House historian Robert B. Dickerson, with one reading, in part: “The enclosed Esterbrook pen was in the White House or Oval Office on November 22, 1963 and was the property of John F. Kennedy. Subsequent to a later order by President. Lyndon B. Johnson all Esterbrook pens of this style and type belonging to the late president were supposedly destroyed. Several years ago approximately 50 surfaced in Texas that had not been destroyed and actually kept as a memento. I was able to obtain all of them. It is my educated estimate that fewer than 200 of these pens from the White House exist worldwide.” Also accompanied by two photos of JFK using an Esterbrook during a bill signing.
