Description

Five TLSs signed "D.E.," each one page, 7.25 x 10.25, personal letterhead, dated between November 1961 and June 1962, each addressed to former White House staff member Gerald D. Morgan, to whom Eisenhower relays birthday and holiday greetings, declines a "Young Republicans" talk, makes reference to the "People-to-People organization," and forwards a "memorandum which will tell you about the organization and projected activities of the National Republican Citizens Committee. The organization of this Committee results from discussions which Bill Miller, our Republican National Chairman, and I have had with representatives of those Citizens and Volunteer Committees which participated in the national elections from 1952 through 1960, and with the leaders of a number of other voluntary organizations which have developed during this same period. I regard this as a very significant development and one that I believe holds great promise for the future of our Party." In overall fine condition. Morgan served in a few capacities as part of the Eisenhower administration—as an administrative assistant from 1952 to 1955, as special counsel to the president from 1955 to 1958, and as Eisenhower's deputy assistant from 1958 to 1961.
