Two items: an autograph poem on a 3.75 x 2.5 card, in full: "We say and we say and we say— / We promise, engage and declare,— / Till a year from tomorrow is yesterday, / And yesterday is—where? Very truly, James Whitcomb Riley," matted with a portrait to an overall size of 8.5 x 14.5; and an ALS signed "J. W. Riley," one page, 4.5 x 7.25, July 2, 1891, in part: "As to my published work other than verse, I refer you to The Bowen-Merrill Co., Indianapolis, Ind. With that firm I have two books of prose sketches, mainly—The first entitled 'Sketches in Prose and Occasional Verses' (10 sketches, I think)—The second, 'Pipes o' Pan,' (5 sketches & 50 poems)." In very good to fine condition, with light staining and foxing to the letter.
