Union Trust Company of the District of Columbia check, 3.25 x 2.75, filled out and signed by Pyle, "Ernest T. Pyle," payable to Book-of-the-Month-Club, Inc. for $2.10, January 14, 1931, with a memo noting, "(For 'Cakes and Ale')." Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the signature graded "VG-EX 4." In fine condition. Written by W. Somerset Maugham, Cakes and Ale had first been serialized in Harper's Bazaar during the spring of 1930 before being introduced in book form.
