Two items related to James Means (1853-1920), an industrialist who designed model gliders and widely published information about flight: a booklet entitled "The Problem of Manflight" by James Means, published in Boston by W. B. Clarke in 1894, 5.75 x 9, 20 pages, with the bookplate of Audouin Dollfus affixed inside the front wrapper; and an original vintage 5.5 x 4 photograph of his soaring machine, taken circa 1893-1894. In overall very good to fine condition, with splitting along the spine and some small areas of paper loss to the covers of the booklet.
