Irish physicist (1820-1893) known for his study of diamagnetism and his realms of infrared radiation and the physical properties of air. Four ALSs from John Tyndall, five total pages, ranging in size from 4.5 x 7 to 5.25 x 8, with two letters dated to 1870 and 1889. One letter, dated September 20, 1889, in part: “I continue on my mountain perch for nearly three weeks longer after which my address, as before, will be Kind Head, Hashmere, England. Should a cheque be required before my return I shall at once send it on hearing from you.” The contents of the remaining letters include Tyndall offering thanks for forwarded papers and books, including a copy of “Lessing his Life and Writing,” and explaining that he does not “see the slightest hope of my being able to get away from London.” In overall very good to fine condition.
