Original vintage semi-glossy 8 x 10 press photo of Prince wiping sweat form his forehead during a performance at the Minnesota Music Awards on May 21, 1984. Reverse of photo bears two Minnesota Star and Tribune photography stamps. In very fine condition. The Minnesota Music Awards, often called ‘the Yammies,’ was highlighted by an unscheduled performance by Prince midway through the show; his three-song, 20-minute set included a rendition of ‘When Doves Cry’ from the forthcoming Purple Rain soundtrack—this was the very first public performance of the single, which would become Prince's first number one hit. Prince won awards for Best Record Producer and Songwriter, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame alongside Bob Dylan and Willie Murphy.
