American rhythm-and-blues, funk, soul and blues musician from Memphis, Tennessee (1917-2001) who is best known for his novelty dance records, including 'Walking the Dog,' 'Do the Funky Chicken,' and '(Do the) Push and Pull.' He was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2001. Stax Records 45 rpm single album for 'Do the Funky Chicken / Turn Your Damper Down,' signed on the front label in black ballpoint, "I love you again, Rufus Thomas," who signs the back label in the exact same manner. Includes the original Stax Records album sleeve. In fine condition. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original recipient.
