A substantial segment of flown heat shield from the Aurora 7 spacecraft, measuring approximately 1 x 1 x .75, and accompanied by the original wooden base with an engraved plaque reading: "Heat Shield from ‘Aurora Seven,’ Mercury-Atlas 7—May 24, 1962, M. Scott Carpenter." In fine condition, with some soiling to plaque.
