ALS signed “John,” one page, lightly-lined, 6 x 9, no date but postmarked July 10, 1999. Letter to Chris Lamy, in part: “We start U.S. tour August 2nd in Providence & August 4th in Boston. I’m happy with the new album. We’ll see how it does but this is the last one. We will play to about March, not sure exactly yet when we are stopping. But 21 years is enough. I hope you can make it to one of the shows. We will probably be back to New England again but you never know. Still work on movie autographs but more on baseball. Movie stuff is hard to tell what’s real or not. Let me know if you are coming or not. Hope to see you.” In fine condition, with expected mailing folds. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Ramone’s hand and affixed with his address label bearing his given name in the upper left corner. On July 20, 1999, just ten days after writing this letter, Johnny joined Joey, Dee Dee, Tommy, Marky, and C. J. at New York City’s Virgin Megastore for an autograph signing; the event marked the last occasion in which the original four members would appear together in public. An insightful and bittersweet letter foreshadowing the end of the Ramones era. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Chris Lamy, close friend of The Ramones and guitarist of The Jabbers, formerly GG Allin & The Jabbers. The Chris Lamy Collection. Pre-certified REAL.
