Oscar Tschirky (1866–1950) was maitre d'hotel of Delmonico's Restaurant and subsequently the Waldorf-Astoria, known for publishing a large cookbook. Vintage matte-finish 7.75 x 9.75 photo, signed and inscribed in black ink “To my very good friends Curt and Mrs. Schiffler, Oscar,” dating the photo 1889 at the top. Framed to an overall size of 8.75 x 10.75, also inscribed on the paper backing by Oscar, “To my dear Curt & Mary.” In fine condition. Accompanied by an original unsigned Christmas card from Tschirky with its original transmittal envelope. RR Auction COA.
