African-American poet (1903–1946) who came to prominence during the Harlem Renaissance. ALS, one page, 5.25 x 8.5, Opportunity Journal of Negro Life letterhead, May 3, 1928. Letter of thanks to an admirer. In part: “I am so sorry you were ill and unable to attend our wedding ceremony. They tell me it was all very lovely. I was much too excited to bear witness…The magazine rack reached us safely and is a beauty.” In fine condition. RR Auction COA.
