In part: “I wrote Stanwyck a note about the Double Indemnity broadcast, and alluded to the Mildred Pierce thing, expressing the hope it would jell, but not getting too icky excited about it. Her note in return, allowing for all the goo that a picture star might be expected to put in for a writer whose stuff she likes, strikes me as tolerably keen for it…I’d say she wraps it all up in one package: name, personality, and ability to give a 100% performance.
