Prominent and sometimes controversial American clergyman, orator, and abolitionist (1813–1887) who was the brother of Uncle Tom’s Cabin author Harriet Beecher Stowe. Two one-page ALSs, each signed “H. W. Beecher,” different sizes, one dated December 30, and the other dated August 13, 1873. The letter dated December 30 reads, in part, “Will Mr. Halliday give Miss Borg the names of several ladies interested in charitable societies who may be willing to avail themselves of Miss Borg’s devices.” In overall very good condition.
