Two gloomy ALSs signed “Vincent,” each one page on a 6 x 4 art museum postcard, postmarked May 24 and July 5, 1991. The first, in part: “I’m 80 on Monday and in fairly frail condition after 4 years of something like Parkinson’s disease and a year and a half housebound by…cancer and chemotherapy treatments—I don’t expect to survive the summer.” The second, in part: “I’m bewildered by the complications of death duties etc and utterly exhausted—not at all well for 4 years but determined to put my house in order before I give up!” In overall fine condition, with some light brushing to text of the second letter.
