American admiral (1801–1870) who was a flag officer of the Navy during the Civil War. Scarce original 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite portrait of Farragut with Percival Drayton seated and in uniform by McPherson & Oliver of New Orleans, signed in the lower border in black ink, “D. G. Farragut.” In fine condition, with a ding to the lower right corner. One of a handful of signed photos of Farragut we have offered, made especially desirable by the presence of Drayton in the image.
