Huge scrapbook, 12.5 x 13 and three inches thick, with five TLSs signed by Wayne affixed within, two signed “John Wayne” and three signed “Duke,” all 6 x 8.25, personal letterhead, 1974 to 1977. Three letters, in part: “If I get the time of the chance when I am in Colorado, I would like to say hello and find out what makes a steak expert. If it is eating them, I am way up in class,” “Well, anyway, now I am in the egg business. Together we would make a helluva plate,” “Pilgrim was a trick of the trade that has been picked up and ruined by my imitators.” Also in the scrapbook are five letters from Wayne’s secretaries, along with pages upon pages of newspaper and magazine clippings about Wayne. The original mailing envelope is affixed with each letter, the letter partially overlapping it. String binding of the scrapbook is loose but complete, pages uniformly toned, and some slight soiling to the letters, otherwise fine condition. Wayne signed letters are scarce as it is, never mind a collection such as this. A unique memento of the Duke’s career. RRAuction COA.
