Marcus A. Reno

Military officer (1834–1889) who fought Native Americans in the West, but is best known for failing to come to Custer’s aid during the Battle of Little Bighorn. Partly-printed partial DS in Reno’s hand, signed “M. A. Reno,” one page, 5 x 3.75, June 1, 1887. Half of a pension report mentioning Waterloo, Indiana. Signed by Reno at the conclusion as the special examiner. In very good condition, with left portion of document cleanly removed, paperclip mark to top edge, crease to upper left corner, and a full vertical tear to the right side, repaired with tape on the reverse.
