British naval officer under Lord Nelson. Scarce free franked address leaf, 4.5 x 3, addressed to a Mrs. Smart of Breakwater, Plymouth, January 18, 1834, franked in the lower left corner “T. M. Hardy” and also franked by another man. Four small tack holes to the corners, trimmed edges, light soiling, and faint show-through from a notation on the reverse, otherwise fine condition.
