Private secretary (1838–1905) to and, later, biographer of Abraham Lincoln who also served as secretary of state under McKinley and Roosevelt. Fountain pen signature, "John Hay," on an off-white 3.5 x 2 card, with the date "Jan. 11, 1893" added in an unknown hand. Matted with a computer generated image to an overall size of 11 x 17. A block of irregular mild toning on the left side affecting his first name and the date, otherwise fine condition. RRAuction COA.
