Description

Thomas Mann

Highly influential, Nobel Prize–winning German novelist and social critic (1875–1955) who penned such classics as Death in Venice and The Magic Mountain. Signed book: Adel Des Geistes (in German). First edition. Stockholm: Bermann-Fischer, 1945. Hardcover with dustjacket, 5 x 7.75, 708 pages. Signed and inscribed, in German, on the first free end page, "To Josef Paul Hodin, thanking him for the beautiful literary impression. London. May 17,49. Thomas Mann." Light rippling to last 200 pages resulting in a slight separation of fore-edges, a bit of light staining to fore-edges, and mild wear to covers and spine, otherwise fine condition. Dustjacket has several tears and paper loss to front, chipping to edges, and scattered toning and soiling. RRAuction COA.
