Georges Simenon

Belgian author (1903–1989) best known for his Inspector Maigret detective novels. Two items: Souvenir typescript on an 8.5 x 11 light salmon-colored sheet, an extract from ‘Aboard the Aquitaine,’ In part: '’And what about the stolen wallet?…No one was ever sure, although Genier was arrested two years later for the same sort of theft, in a large hotel in Deauville.’' Signed at at the conclusion in black felt tip 'Georges Simenon'; and a TLS on a 6 x 4.25 personal letterhead, January 14, 1987. In part: 'Many thanks for your letter and for the little heap of work you gave me to do. If all booksellers were like you I would spend my life writing signatures and the printing of my books would multiply by I don’t know what figure. You are the most entreprising [sic] and active bookseller I know.' In overall fine condition. RRAuction COA.
