Physician and Pulitzer Prize–winning writer (1883–1963) whose innovative verse made him one of the most influential figures in 20th-century American literature. Typed poem entitled “A Toast,” on an off-white 3 x 5 card, most likely typed in full by Williams. The almost risqué verse reads, “Here’s to the baby, may it thrive; Here’s to the labia that rive, to give it a place, in a stubborn world; And here’s to the peak, from which the seed was hurled.” He identifies the piece, in type, as “from: Paterson IV.” Signed at the bottom in blue ink, “William Carlos Williams 10/15/60.” In fine condition. Quite interesting in a very desirable format. RRAuction COA.
