Well-regarded Australian-born pianist, conductor, and composer (1882–1961) best known for his folk settings and colorfully experimental works. ALS, two pages on two adjoining sheets, 6 x 7.5, The Southern letterhead, November 7, 1916. Letter to Robert Messimer. In part: “Is Gabelowikh (whom I admire & like beyond all words) playing to you on Nov. 10? If so I could not lunch that day as I never go out just before playing myself…Alas, my mother does not join me before Chicago, where we go to California for a 20 concert trip.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed by Grainger. RRAuction COA.
