Collection of six items from participants in the Spanish American War. Items are: ink signature “John J. Pershing,” on an off-white album page; ink signature, “Elbert Hubbard” on a beige slip; an ANS, signed “Harry E. Wilkins, Col. USA Retired,” at the bottom of a 1928 letter to Wilkins, asking whether it was Pershing or Stanton who said “LaFayette, we are here.” Wilkins writes: “Sure! I was with Stanton when he made the address at the cemetery in Paris, July 4, 1917.”; a bold ink signature, “LaFayette, we are here!, C. E. Stanton, Col. USA, Ret, San Francisco, California, Jany 16, 1928,” as well as a 1928 ALS, signed by Stanton, stating “Col. Harry S. Wilkins…was present at Picpus Cemetery where I made my address.”; and a brief ALS, signed by Andrew Summers Rowan.
