Austrian-born Jewish writer (1888–1960) best known for her 1929 work, People at a Hotel, which was made into the Academy Award-winning film Grand Hotel. Vintage color-tinted pearl-finish 7.75 x 10 photo affixed to same-sized piece of cardboard, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Della Spencer, With thanks and love and higest [sic] appreciation. Vicki Baum, 10/18 1938.” Surface scratches, silvering to some of the darker areas, trimmed edges, irregular ink adhesion to the first two letters of “With,” and areas of discoloration at the the upper corners, otherwise very good condition.
