The commander of Doolittle’s Raiders notes that “the Tokyo Raid was just a job to be done”

Three items: two TLSs, one page each, 7.25 x 10.5, Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company letterhead. The first letter, August 4, 1983, reads in part: “In answer to your questions: 1. The Tokyo Raid was just a job to be done and we did it the best we could. 2. The Golden Rule best sums up my philosophy of life.” The second letter, May 21, 1984, reads in part: “I was given ‘first priority’ and, in the military, that removes all petty obstacles and most of the major ones.” Each signed in blue ballpoint, “J. H. Doolittle”; and an 8 x 10 matte-finish photo signed and inscribed in blue felt tip, “To Father William Ward: With every good wish. J. H. Doolittle.” In overall fine condition. RRAuction COA.
