Once considered the U. S. Army’s greatest “Indian fighter” after successes against the Apache, Crook participated in Grant’s Nov. 3., 1875, “secret meeting” that launched the Great Sioux War. Ink signature, “George Crook,” on an off-white 4 x 1 lightly-lined clipped slip, with “Lieut. Colonel 23 Inf,” written under his signature in another hand. Signature is affixed to a 7.5 x 4.5 sheet above a collector’s short manuscript biography. In fine condition, with light show-through from writing on reverse. RRAuction COA.
