American performer (1911–1970), born Louise Hovick, who raised stripping to a popular and semi-respectable art form. Her life story later formed the basis of the hit musical Gypsy. Gorgeous vintage matte-finish 11 x 14 photo of an elegant Lee swathed in white fur, signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, “To Babe - with many thanks and best wishes from Louise Hovick (Gyp to you),” with a date ink notation in another hand of “38” below her signature.
