Handwritten endorsement, signed “S. P. Chase, Chief Justice U. States,” on an off-white 8 x 10 lined sheet, written at the bottom of Herman Heath’s handwritten oath of office becoming the Secretary of the Territory of New Mexico. Chase writes, “Subscribed & sworn before me this day of March 1867.” In fine condition, with expected folds and a bit of scattered light soiling. RRAuction COA.
