ALS, one page, 8.5 x 11, March 18, 1950. O’Keefe writes from Abiquiu, New Mexico to “Brownie.” The great American artist wrote this letter to one known simply as “Brownie” from a location that eventually became the O’Keefe Museum (an abandoned hacienda that she restored and moved into permanently in 1949). In full, the letter reads: “I look forward to you and your friend next Thursday—March 23rd. Arrive as is convenient for you. I will have the noon meal at one—If you are a little late you can have it later. It will be pleasant to see you. I am living in Abiquiu, you know.” The message exhibits fine condition with intersecting mailing folds, one of which runs through a single letter in O’Keefe’s incredible handwriting. RRAuction COA.
