Description

Signed bond to sell land in the town where his company was headquartered

A rare find indeed! This bond for a land deed carries the signature of agricultural and construction equipment mogul John Deere (1804-1886). Issued to secure the sale of land owned by Deere in Moline, Illinois (the town in which he founded Deere & Company), the bond is boldly penned, “John Deere” along the signature line at bottom right. The terms of the agreement are featured on both sides of the partly printed 7.5 x 13.5 legal document, which is dated April 10, 1872. The well-preserved souvenir is entirely intact, and is accompanied by a John Deere logo and photograph. All three pieces are matted and framed to an overall size of 20 x 16. Light soiling and unobtrusive handling wear, otherwise fine condition. RRAuction COA.
