Declaration of Independence: Paine, Robe

Massachusetts lawyer (1731–1814) who served as one of the prosecutors of British soldiers during the Boston Massacre trial; he later signed the Declaration of Independence. Paine’s personally-owned and-signed book: A Vindication of Providence. London: 1747. Leatherbound hardcover with slipcase and custom clamshell box, 5 x 7.75, 110 pages. Signed at the top of the title page in black ink, “R. T. Paine 1759.” Book also bears a page and a half of notations in another hand on the first free end page. In good condition, with worn covers, loose and broken hinges, mild toning to signed page, and scattered toning and foxing. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
