Son of President Abraham Lincoln (1843–1926) who served as Secretary of War in the Garfield and Arthur administrations. DS, one page, 8 x 10, June 30, 1881. War Department document informing that John P. Hatch has been promoted to the rank of Colonel in the Second Regiment of the cavalry, signed at the conclusion in ink by Lincoln as the Secretary of War. In fine condition, with a few light wrinkles, and a horizontal fold through tops of a few letters of signature. R&R COA.
