Manchester, “master or commander of the…Octavius … of the burden of 25 39/95 tons or thereabouts, lying at present in the port of New Bedford bound for the Indian Ocean and laden with Provisions, Staves, and Utensils for a whaling voyage.” Signed on the third panel by Van Buren and countersigned by his Secretary of State, John Forsyth. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. Some scattered light toning and dampstaining, circular toning over beginning portion of Van Buren’s signature, and several previous storage folds, otherwise fine condition.
