Description

The virtuoso as versifier

Russian-American violinist (1901–1987) lauded as one of the greatest players of modern times. Vintage typescript on an off-white 5.75 x 8.75 sheet of Heifetz’s personal monogrammed stationery, signed “Jascha Heifetz.” A humorous, evidently original limerick. In full: “The urge to your fast saporific/Is strong, and my thanks are terrific./I’d be there all right,/But it happens that night/I’m asleep on the Union Pacific.” Heifetz has also handwritten “Monday” at the top of the sheet. Mild handling wear, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
