American patriot (1736–1799) best remembered for his stirring, historic declaration, “Give me liberty or give me death.” Partly printed DS as Governor of Virginia, signed “P. Henry,” one page, 12.5 x 20, February 20, 1786. A grant for a parcel of land issued to William Greenveigh. Countersigned by two others. In good condition, with intersecting folds (holes, chips, and partial separations with tape reinforcements to reverse; vertical fold just touching last letter of signature), and scattered toning and soiling. The signature is dark, clear, and otherwise unaffected. R&R COA.
