Partially printed DS, signed “R. B. Hayes,” one page, 14 x 18, February 2, 1876. Governor Hayes appoints William H. Taylor to the position of notary public for the County of Cuyahoga for a three-year term. Countersigned by the secretary of state. A carte-de-visite portrait of Taylor has been affixed to the lower left of the document, with a notation on the portrait in one of his children’s hands.
